The details within this overview will provide you with an opportunity to know more about the programs and the facility for our residents.  ARK, Inc. would like you to know that our love for God enables the ministry to reach out to those in need to "Feed His Sheep." Who ARK, Inc. is and our mission?

Ark Refuge, Inc. (ARK) is a non-profit 501(c) 3 recognized organization dedicated to restoring the lives of individuals’ and families affected by issues related to but not limited to homelessness and substance abuse.  ARK, Inc. has a twenty year history of serving the homeless, and substance abuse for individuals and their families in LaGrange, Georgia and surrounding communities. 

Ark Refuge, Inc. (ARK) provides a structured, safe, and secure environment which includes shelter, food and clothing within a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week facility. The residents who resides in the Ark receives spiritual, educational, mentoring and support.


Our Mission Statement:

The mission of ARK Refuge, Inc. (ARK) is to create “a safe, engaging, holistic community that empowers people to end their homelessness and create positive, long-term changes.” This is accomplished through programming that fulfills our consumer’s basic needs, reduces barriers, rebuilds lives and, ultimately, ends homelessness.

The founder of ARK, Inc. Pastor Carlos Lopez and all the members agree that Ark, Inc. will be a safe structured home that will provide food, shelter (short and mid-term housing), and permanent housing for the homeless who did not yet have the capacity to be productive members of society.


ARK, Inc. Residential Services


  • Residents have free health care sponsored by Troup Cares. Free dental extractions are available and sponsored by The First Baptist Church of LaGrange. Prescription assistance sponsored by The United Methodist Church.  Each program has limited availability.  A reputable agent is available to assist residents with Affordable Healthcare registration.

On-Site Legal Assistance

  • Ark, Inc. provides on-site legal assistance for residents to seek legal advice.  Ark, Inc. have collaborated and partnered with Georgia Clients Council Inc. Legal assistance sponsored by the Georgia Client’s Council, Inc. 

Computer Lab

  • Our newly renovated computer lab is open to all residents for the general purpose of providing basic software programs and internet access to seek employment opportunities, business research and academic study.

Job Preparation Training

  • Residents receives assistance and training through the Georgia Department of Labor and The Georgia Works Program.

Transportation Service

  • ARK, Inc. provides transportation for residents, to and from places of employment, medical appointments, shopping excursions, house of worship and/or business appointments.

Living Arrangement

  • Intake Room- Upon entry into the program residents are assigned to the intake room which houses six beds.

  • Private Room- After the probationary period has ended, residents are assigned to individual private rooms.

Laundry Service

  • All laundry for residents’ are managed and completed by an in-house ARK staff.


  • Residents are provided 3 meals a daily.


ARK, Inc. Programs

Daily Bible Study

  • A part of the ARK, Inc. is daily Bible Study.  Bible Study is conducted 5 days a week. Expository teaching and practical application of the Word of God is taught to the residents about spiritual development.   

Counseling Programs

  • Internally, ARK, Inc. provides biblical counseling, family and marriage counseling and substance abuse counseling to our residents.

  • Externally, ARK, Inc. have collaborated and partnered with Pathways of LaGrange to observe resident’s minor depression, mental health behaviors and issues.  

  • ARK, Inc. have also collaborated and partnered with Dr. Jimmy McCamey at Navigation Counseling Services, Inc. to provide psychological counseling and behavioral services once a week for congregate discussion and one-on-one counseling sessions to residents.  

  • ARK, Inc. refers residents to New Beginnings at Self-Help Harbor, Inc. to attend AA & NA group meetings and/or one-to-one sessions seeking drug and/or alcohol addiction counseling.  

             Men Mentorship Program

  • Ark Refuge Ministries, Inc. provides Men Mentorship Program that teaches essential life skills. This collaborative approach to empowerment is the keystone to developing self-sufficiency in our residents. Life skill class opportunities such as interviewing skills, resume preparation, financial literacy, basic computer skills, personal development, vocational training, interpersonal skills building, community involvement, independent living skills and job readiness are provided at the ARK.  

GED Program

  • The ARK will assist residents in obtaining their GED. This program works in collaboration with West Georgia Technical College in LaGrange, Georgia. Once enrolled, residents have an opportunity to study and complete online courses in the ARK computer lab.

Financial Management Program

  • Financial management and tax filing services are available to assist residents with developing individual financial plans.


ARK, Inc. Social Responsibility

Community Services

  • Food Pantry: The distribution of bread, canned /dry goods and meats are sponsored by ARK, Inc., Feed the Valley Food Bank, Publix and thru Salvation Army.

  • Soup Kitchen: Hot meals are provided daily from 12-1 PM,   six days a week.

  • ARK, Inc. also has a longstanding commitment of support around and in the Lagrange area.  ARK, Inc. supports other non-profit organizations, churches, Lagrange Police Department Outreach, and Troup County Homeless Coalition.

Community Events

  • Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinner: ARK, Inc. provides free meals to the homeless and needy individuals. They provide over 2000 meals during the holiday season and it is estimated that over the course of the last 22 years of operation ARK, Inc. has fed over 50,000 people during the holiday season.

  • Christmas Toy Distribution: ARK, Inc. provides toys and provisions to the needy children in our community.

  • Annual Coat Drive: partnering with New Macedonia Baptist Church, ARK, Inc. provides coats of all sizes for men, women and children.

  • Annual Health Fair:  ARK, Inc. has collaborated with Mackey, Wilson and Jennings to become a primary location to have an Annual Community Health Fair.
